Hoke O'Kelley Memorial LIbrary

Campus: Oxford

Namesake: Hoke O’Kelley

Date: Construction in 1970 | Named in 1983 | Expanded and renamed 2013

Purpose: Academics

Since its expansion and renovation in 2013, the Oxford Library and Academic Commons no longer bears its old name.

A plaque on the interior donor wall says this: "Contained within these walls is the Hoke O'Kelley Memorial Library named through a gift by his sister Willie D. O'Kelley DuBois in 1983."

O’Kelley, a former high-school educator and businessman from Loganville, Georgia, was a strong supporter of Methodist education and at one time a candidate for governor of Georgia.
