Fleming Hall is named for (Neal) Bond Fleming, who served as dean of Oxford College from 1966 until 1976.

He established the Oxford Board of Counselors, coined the term "continuees" for Oxford students who go on to earn bachelor's degrees at the Atlanta campus, and guided an important period of Oxford's campus development in a difficult era.
