The brick paving of Rudolph Courtyard, the space between Cannon Chapel and White Hall, was the gift of architect Paul Rudolph. He designed Cannon Chapel and the interior renovation of the Old Theology Building when it housed the Pitts Theology Library.

Rudolph was dean of the Yale School of Architecture and the son of the first graduate of Candler School of Theology, Keener Rudolph (1915T).
