The Bill and Carol Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry is named for alumnus and administrator William H. Fox and his wife.

Fox served Emory for more than three decades, first as a faculty member and administrator of the Institute for the Liberal Arts, then as vice president and dean of campus life, and later as senior vice president for institutional advancement. He retired in 2005.

Carol often traveled with him to alumni and development functions. Both supported the role of the humanities in education and in public life.
