  • As president, seeks to raise academic standards by making the master of arts degree more rigorous, encouraging the faculty to develop common entrance requirements, and introducing elective courses and the first athletics requirement (two hours in the gym weekly)
  • Grows the endowment to $203,000 while also raising funds for a new science building constructed later
  • Resigns in 1902 to return to the ministry once more
