H. Kenneth Walker spends a lot of time in Georgia -- the Republic of Georgia.
Since 1992, he has led the Partners for International Development in that Eastern European country. Established to modernize the country's health care services and educational programs after the fall of the Soviet Union, the partnership has grown into one of Emory's larger and more effective international commitments.
Under Walker's leadership, more than twenty teams of Emory faculty and staff have traveled to Georgia to assess and address health inequities and develop training programs for Georgian health care workers. Dozens of Georgian medical students have trained at Emory's School of Medicine as well.
