Mary Margaret Oliver
Georgia children have an advocate and protector in Mary Margaret Oliver. A lifelong resident of DeKalb County, she has served in the Georgia legislature for more than twenty years -- first in the Georgia House (1987 - 1992), then the Senate (1993 - 1998), and then in the House again (2002 - present).
During this time, Oliver chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee and, among her many accomplishments, authored legislation creating the Georgia Child Care Council, the Georgia Child Fatality Review Panel, and the Georgia Department of Youth Services.
At Emory, Oliver taught in the School of Law's Barton Child Law and Policy Clinic and, since 2004, has served on the School of Law's advisory board.
